Broadcast Productions - Background

Broadcast Productions is owned and managed by award-winning journalist Dominic Hartley MA who has covered current affairs and the business news agenda for many years.

Dom cut his teeth working for BBC Look East and Channel 1 News as a video-journalist in 1996 before working for ITN Radio where he covered live events including the death and funeral of Princess Diana.

He became City and Business Correspondent for ITN News Direct and presented The Business World Tonight, the flagship evening business programme.

In 1997 Dom set-up and directed an ITN and Reuters project City News Radio which won the 1998 New York Radio Festival International Gold Award for best business coverage.

This experience followed with a regular stint as Business and Economics reporter for ITN’s Euronews operation.

In 1999 Dom became Chief Reporter for the Money Channel responsible for the station’s news output and in 2001 he began working as a freelance journalist which followed with the creation of Broadcast Productions.

Professionally trained as a cameraman (Leeds University, Broadcast Journalism Diploma), Dom films material personally as much as possible, with other cameramen being brought in for more ambitious productions and multicamera studio shoots.  (e.g. FT, Microsoft and BT round table discussions).

Experience at the Highest Level

Medilectures and e-learning development

In 2004 Imperial College medical school had major difficulties engaging medical students in their online content.  After a period of consultancy Broadcast Productions launched Medilectures to produce a series of highly engaging online audio interview and video demonstration lectures.

The Medilectures concept flourished and was followed by further inroads into the medical e-Learning arena.  Six years on and e-Learning is now a big part of our product offering.  Bill Westaway is Broadcast Productions e-Learning manager and we thrive on producing bespoke video rich interactive courses.  We continue to monitor and deliver e-Learning programmes worldwide on a daily basis.

Over the past few years we have developed a strong relationship with Kineo in Brighton, one of the UK’s most experienced e-Learning providers.  This partnership arrangement has enabled us to project manage sophisticated e-learning courses marrying Kineo’s technical expertise with our creative production skills.
