The Medilectures Approach & Experience

Medilectures was born following consultancy work for Imperial College London Medical school in 2004. This saw a commission to build some 30 online lectures hand-in-hand with their most experienced consultants. The lectures were to be interactive and integrate with the university’s Web CT system.  Lectures included a module with Nick Panay, one of the world’s leading experts on on HRT as well as ‘Pain Relief in Labour’ and the management of Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

Imperial College welcomed our multimedia and broadcast experience and our interview-styled online lectures continue to score high praise form students and lecturers in universities worldwide.

Other commissions followed and we have worked closely with UEA medical school and Warwick University in producing cutting-edge online content for their medical courses.  At Warwick we filmed numerous videos for their clinical teaching course.

Our expertise is based on using experienced video directors, editors, broadcast journalists and e-Learning consultants  to help the medical world best present educational content.

All too frequently students are required to digest lengthy on-line material that it is badly put together and of poor quality. Lecturers who use audio or video to deliver their presentations are invariably unfamiliar with medium, or the latest professional developments.  

Our approach varies, but one workflow is based on recording a BBC-styled radio interview with a practitioner, which is digitally edited into bite-sized audio tracks. The package is then broadcast over the web together with simultaneous images and interactive diagrams. These are complemented with video clips and cutting-edge interactive multimedia revision tests.  Each Medilecture is wrapped in a single click and play Flash presentation.
